Operational Support Manager | London | £37,000 - £43,000

The team of Operational Support Managers (OSMs) within the Customer Operations Team are assigned to our customers to provide dedicated, high quality customer support and guidance on the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC) arrangements.

The OSM role is a varied one, requiring elements of account management, operational support, guidance and education.  You will monitor performance to identify any process or performance failures at an early stage and request and monitor rectification plans to address any issues. You will also be responsible enhancing our relationship with our customers through keeping them informed of any relevant industry developments.


  • Stakeholder management.
  • Effective planning of activities and tasks to achieve stated/agreed performance targets.
  • Contributing to the development and delivery of Departmental objectives.
  • Planning and delivering customer support activities including providing quality documentation and advice.
  • Support Panel Committees and workgroups as required.
  • Contributing to Panel and Panel Committee Strategic Work Programme.
  • Contribute to the achievement of the business strategy and objectives.

Attributes Required:

  • A knowledge of Central Volume Allocation and Supplier Volume Allocation of Electricity as determined by BSC Obligations, systems and processes.
  • Demonstrable experience of building business relationships and working effectively with contacts at other companies on both collaborative projects and conflicting opinions.
  • Be aware of the changes that are occurring within the GB Electricity Market and the potential impact that these changes may have on industry stakeholders.
  • Acquire proficient knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of the BSC governance model, BSC Panel and its committees.
  • Proficient in a variety of interpersonal techniques and communication skills required to handle customer situations e.g. facilitation, influencing and persuasion.
  • Proficient in giving presentations within a formal environment.
