The UK is somewhat divided in favour of onshore or offshore wind energy. According to Renewable UK, Scotland is taking the lead in the onshore wind sector, reaping the economic benefits that the industry brings. England, however, are racing ahead in offshore wind energy, with the generating capacity of offshore wind farms in the UK as a whole providing almost 15 TWh of electricity per year. That’s the equivalent to the electricity consumption of a whopping 3.5 million homes!
